Italian design label Versace has released a 30-second preview of the new EROS men’s fragrance campaign, shot by Mert & Marcus. Facebook fans were treated to a 30-second teaser advert by Versace on November 22, when the brand posted a video (also available on YouTube, below) to their official fan page.

Featuring American model Brian Shimansky, and shot by famed fashion photography duo Mert & Marcus, the video sees a 300-style Grecian warrior, muscled and moodily lit, mount a podium and fire a golden arrow into the heavy clouds.

“This is a fragrance for a man who is his own master. He is a hero: a man who defends their ideas and goals,” stated Donatella Versace. The scent is packaged in a square glass bottle (broken by an arrow in the video): “we have the Greek motif that makes you think of ancient Greece and antiquity, mythology, and the color turquoise represents the Mediterranean,” Versace added.

EROS is the first fragrance the house has released for men in five years. According to perfume site Fragrantica the mix includes “mint oil combined with green apple and Italian lemon. Warmth is provided by tonka mixed with Venezuelan ambroxan and geranium flowers.”

The line includes an eau de toilette spray in 1.7-oz. ($60) and 3.4-oz. ($80) sizes, a deodorant stick ($26), aftershave balm ($25) and shower gel ($35). Launched in Italy this year, the fragrance will roll out to the rest of the world in spring 2013, and hits the US in March next year as a Macy’s exclusive.
