Designer Devi Kroell, recipient of the CFDA Swarovski Perry Ellis Award, returns to the New York fashion scene this Fall 2011 season, with the unveiling of her new line, Dax Gabler.

Kroell left her namesake company, Devi Kroell Inc., in May of 2010.

The highly anticipated designer collection features ready to wear, footwear and handbags ranging in price from $250 to $890.

Dax Gabler, Kroell’s grandmother’s maiden name, is of Tyrolean heritage. “I found it fitting to pay tribute to my Tyrolean roots with this introductory collection.”

The collection features the subdued color palette of traditional Tyrolean folk costumes: shades of grays, browns and black. “The aesthetic is all about texture, a beautiful texture rendered through hand knitting.” The ready-to-wear is made from mountain sheep wool that can only be found in a specific area of Tyrol, Austria. The base colors of the wool remain as they were found in nature, without any dyes or chemical manipulations. “I found the colors very modern and relevant”, says the designer.

For the accessories, the designer again looked to the Tyrolean Mountains. The result is a modern yet wearable assortment of shoes and handbags; the shoes are all flat in design and the bags feature century old necessities of alpine hunters and gatherers in the region.
