Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola has created her first kitchen for the contemporary brand Boffi’s collection, which was on display at the Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan.

‘Salinas’ is a modular concept featuring a varied combination of materials and textures such as metal, copper, zinc and wood. Urquiola has placed a particular emphasis on using eco-sustainable materials.

Units include table surfaces with in-built storage and metal shelves with integrated LED lighting systems. This modern technological aesthetic is balanced out with a large stone sink and solid wood surfaces, which can be adjusted to create fixed table tops or sliding bar tops.

“Salinas is the beach of my childhood,” explains Urquiola. “It is the memory of the kitchen in my grandfather’s house, with views of the beach and the emotions associated with those moments.”

The kitchen modules can be mixed and matched to create a modern tailor-made version of the space. Colors and textures can be swapped and combined for the desired effect.

Italian brand Boffi was founded in 1934 and has gone on to become one of the industry’s leading names in kitchen and bathroom design.
