Marc Jacobs steps into the role of Creative Director for Diet Coke in 2013. The first results of this creative partnership will be released into European markets later this month and will reference iconic looks from the last three decades, combined with the designer’s signature motifs.

For his new job as creative director for the soda giant, Jacobs collaborated on advertisements and designed “whimsical, feminine” packaging, reports Women’s Wear Daily.

“It’s just another proof of people loving the power of fashion,” Jacobs told WWD. “Designers have personalities, and their clothes have a voice and a vision, and people respond to it.”

Jacobs makes his debut in his new role in a parody of the famous ‘Diet Coke break’ ad of the 1990s.

“I don’t have much shame or anything in terms of taking off my clothes,” he said, adding that he feels “extremely privileged” to be asked to take on the job because he admires the work of the other designers who have participated in the project in the past.
