‘Kinky Boots’, ‘Matilda’ lead Tony nominations

The Tony nominations are in and the musical ‘Kinky Boots’ is leading the pack. ‘Boots’ comes courtesy of writer/performer Harvey Fierstein and a score by first-time Broadway composer Cyndi Lauper. Right on ‘Kinky Boots’ heels is the critically acclaimed ‘Matilda the Musical’, which received 11 nominations.

Revivals of ‘Pippin’ and ‘Golden Boy’ scored 10 and eight nominations, respectively. An updated version of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’ received nine nominations.
