French chef titan Joel Robuchon’s triple Michelin-starred outpost in Macau has been named the best restaurant in Asia, while his Hong Kong location also nabbed third spot in a list that ranks the top 20 dining destinations on the continent. Robuchon au Dôme took the top spot in The Miele Guide’s latest edition of Asia’s Top 20 List, knocking Iggy’s off its perch. The Singapore restaurant slipped to fourth place this year after enjoying a near monopoly in the top spot over the last five years.

Situated in the dome of The Grand Lisboa Hotel in Macau, guests at the Robuchon au Dôme dine with a panoramic view of the city below, while the centerpiece of the dining room – a sweeping, cascading crystal chandelier suspended dozens of meters from the dome ceiling – provides the dramatic setting needed to match the Michelin-starred menu of classic French gastronomy.

The win follows a major facelift and name change over the year: As Robuchon a Galera, the restaurant was “old and anachronous,” says Miele. Today, Dome is “chic, classy, modern and surprisingly casual.”

A sample menu, meanwhile, reveals classic French dishes such as foie gras and truffled potatoes.

Robuchon also succeeded in snagging the third spot in the Miele Asia guide with L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon Hong Kong, which in 2009-2010, took to the top spot in the same survey.
