The only giveaway that Miami’s Hotel Beaux Arts is a Marriott property is its location – 44 rooms located across several upper-level floors of the JW Marriott Marquis downtown. Otherwise, this hotel-within-a-hotel exudes a boutique sophistication all its own.

Guests arrive and are greeted by dedicated staff that discreetly whisks them to the property’s 39th floor check-in, where they enjoy a beverage or welcome cocktail before being discreetly whisked to spacious and modern rooms overlooking the city and bay.

The rooms themselves are a tech and ultra-modern décor lover’s dream, tricked out with Bang & Olufsen remote controlled video and sound systems and flat-screen TVs, in-room iPads, a personal electronics connectivity panel, in-mirror bathroom televisions and push-button sinks that slide from hot to fold with the flick of a finger.

Slide, tap and push your way to happiness, techies – we could barely figure out how to close the blinds … not that we really wanted to, as floor-to-ceiling glass windows afforded us a spectacular view of the Port of Miami, the city and the bay. Perks like in-room Illy espresso makers, amazingly comfortable Anachini of Italy linens and gratis champagne breakfast in the dedicated L’atelier lounge weren’t overlooked. Shared amenities with the Marquis include access to acclaimed chef Daniel Boulud’s db Bistro Moderne, a Jim McLean Indoor Golf School, an NBA-approved basketball court, bowling alley, 3D media room, infinity sky pool, spa, salon, fitness center and yoga studio as well.

More than just an executive level for elite Marquis guests, Hotel Beaux Arts is a unique addition to the Marriott brand—it is the only one of its kind in the global company’s hierarchy, operating outside of any of Marriott’s established brand groupings. As such, the 44 room property features unique amenities, high-touch service and dedicated staff that feel more like an ultra-luxury boutique resort than an established corporate brand … but, of course, with the perks of being able to use and accrue Marriott Rewards points.

Service was discreet yet welcoming – and the clientele significantly less flashy than could be found just a few moments away in South Beach, a welcome respite for those who, like ourselves, enjoy the warm weather of Miami in winter but don’t always care for the haughty reputation and notoriously tiny hotel rooms of SoBe. Ideal for business travelers or guests spending a night in Miami before heading off on a cruise (our main reason for visiting), the hotel is a unique and worthy retreat.

We’ll certainly return again soon.
