Designer Maria Malindretou-Vika has created an eco-sustainable catamaran yacht named “Marvin the Martian.” It measures in at 50 feet long and is hulled of white fiberglass. The goal in this project was to create a boat capable of being both autonomous and self-sufficient in energy.

The catamaran can sail and/or run on it low gas consumption motor. The two hulls allow for less resistance in the water. The fiberglass hull uses vacuum infusion epoxy resins and Kevlar laminates to be both lightweight and inexpensive. Photovoltaic panels harvest enough energy to become self-sufficient.

A total of 8 people can fit comfortably aboard the Marvin. The yacht comes complete with a kitchen, dinette and living room.
