Update from the American Club:

The American Club Resort in Kohler, Wisconsin, will usher in 2012 receiving a most distinguished gift – five sparkling stars – as Kohler Co. announces today that both The American Club hotel and Kohler Waters Spa were awarded the prestigious 2012 Forbes Five-Star Award in its 54th annual listing of Five-Star and Four-Star hospitality establishments worldwide. They are also the first and only Forbes Five-Star hospitality establishments in Wisconsin to earn the organization’s highest rating that recognizes superior service and guest satisfaction. The American Club hotel is one of only 57 hotels worldwide with this distinction, while the Kohler Waters Spa is one of only 30 spas worldwide. The resort’s fine dining offering, The Immigrant Restaurant, was honored with the 2012 Forbes Four-Star Award – an impressive honor it has now received three straight years.

“We are incredibly proud and honored to achieve the Forbes Five-Star Award. Our dedicated staff is exemplary, and each individual works exceedingly hard to deliver outrageous Five-Star experiences and personalized service for each and every one of our guests,” said Debbie Taylor, Kohler Co. Group President-Hospitality & Real Estate. “Along with our AA Five Red Star property, The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa in St Andrews, Scotland, Kohler Co. is in exclusive global company, offering the finest resort and golf accommodations in the world.”

Wisconsin isn’t synonymous with luxury, but the rolling hills, thousands of lakes, numerous rivers and vast woodlands makes it a beautiful state. And while not known for its luxury establishments, there are some magnificent locations if one only looks. One such place is the American Club in Kohler.

Kohler is located a short ways from Lake Michigan, north of Milwaukee. It is home to the Kohler company – the maker of fine kitchen, bath and home products. The American Club is a beautiful location, combining old world style with small town elegance.

The rooms (185 of them, each named after a famous American) are large and comfortable, with each room unique in its decor. And being that this is Kohler, each room has only the finest in hot tubes, Jacuzzi and baths. The hotels and restaurant are excellent – especially the Immigrant Restaurant. Finally, the spa is simply amazing – and not to be missed.

The area offers excellent outdoor activities all year around – hiking, fishing, boating, biking and much more are all within a short drive. The surrounding area offers many quaint shops. But what brings many to Kohler is the golf. Whistling Straights – home to PGA Championship, U.S. Senior Open and the Palmer Cup – offers some of the best golf in the country. Any golf fan will simply be in heaven.

The Kohler Festival of Beer on Memorial Day weekend and the Kohler Food and Wine show in October are not to be missed for our epicurean fans (this is Wisconsin, so you must have a beer).

All in all, the American Club in Kohler is a great reason to escape to Wisconsin.
