Today’s dream home project involved the creativity and talent of London-based Eldridge Smerin architectural practice. Transforming a 1950s detached house into a contemporary home, architects reshaped the residential structure located in the Highgate Conservation Area into a spectacular, almost transparent collection of public and private spaces. Known as “The Lawns“, this modern residence was shortlisted for the Stirling Prize, British architecture’s highest honor.

Overlooking treetops and glimpses of London, the luxury house originally built by Leonard Manasseh spreads over 5,627 square feet displayed on four floors. Adorned with oak and York stone, the home boasts modern public spaces designed to adapt to a large family while maintaining each room’s purpose and privacy. The finest details were chosen to create an inviting home – bespoke storage, custom-made fireplaces and a Bulthaup kitchen, alongside double-height spaces flooded by natural light create a stunning atmosphere. Showcasing a perfectly manicured garden imagined by landscape designer Dan Pearson, the contemporary British property is hidden behind cast-iron gates that ensure the inhabitant’s privacy. Complete with off-street parking for five cars, the six bedroom property shows how reinterpretation of architectural details can result in a customized home.
