Daily Dream Home: Mai Mai House

Aukland-based architecture studio Patterson Associates created an amazing dream home in Auckland, New Zealand. Named “Mai Mai House“, the private heaven was designed for a couple who share the same contemporary spaces and preferences. The two bedroom/ two bathroom residence showcases an impressive white street facade. The lack of windows and its hidden doors makes the residence appear camouflaged. Inspired by a traditional and highly-prized feathered cloak which was a signature of beauty and rank – Maori – the house is hidden behind this interesting privacy screen.

According to the architects, the house “seeks to create a union which reconciles seemingly contrary identities, personalities and problems. In this house these two lovers – the hunter and the bird, as we have grown to call them – make sense of the elements that define them as individuals, and the chemistry that draws them together as a couple.” Opening to reveal the beautiful interior spaces, this spectacular facade showcases a two-level vertical car stacker. A western courtyard captures all the natural light needed to flood the interiors. Take a look and draw inspiration from the details of this amazing dream home.
