Rising tall on a sloping terrain in Florianópolis, Brazil, the contemporary DLW House captures beautiful panoramas of the surrounding urban and natural landscape from its cantilevered social spaces resting above the garage. A residential project imagined by Florianópolis-based design studio Westphal and Kosciuk Architects, the modern home was completed in 2011 and proudly showcases its inspiring volumetric architecture accessible via both a staircase and an elevator.
The Brazilian display of modern architecture blurs the lines between social and private zones. The living spaces were raised above the lower ground to ensure access to the beautiful views, extending towards the street via a half room, half terrace cantilevering volume. The first floor also shelters the modern kitchen adorned with geometric details, a service area and access to the backyard. The lower floor is composed of the garage, entrance hall, warehouse and a separate indoor play room. High above these spaces, the master bedroom, guest bedroom and office space top off the beautifully designed dream home.
