Here’s the latest from Cadillac:

General Motors revealed a top-of-the-line Cadillac hybrid concept car Tuesday that the company will build in Oshawa in two years, according to a major industry group.

GM unveiled the XTS Platinum concept model, billed as “a new paradigm for the luxury sedan of the future,” at the North American International Auto Show.

The Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association disclosed in a “critical intelligence note” to member companies in Canada that GM plans to start assembling the vehicle in Oshawa in January 2012.

But GM vice-chairman Bob Lutz said the company has not set a launch date or site for what would be the flagship of a new Cadillac series.

It would compete primarily against European models such as Mercedes-Benz and Audi.

GM officials have not disclosed the identity of two new models that will be coming to its Oshawa car complex. They would not confirm the information from the parts association, whose members supply components to GM. Lutz said in an interview that when the company makes a final decision on proceeding with the XTS, it will shoot for annual sales of about 50,000 vehicles. It will replace the existing Cadillac STS and DTS models.
