The first trailer for Young Adult, starring Charlize Theron (Hancock) and directed by Jason Reitman (Up in the Air), was released on October 6 online. A departure from Theron’s more dramatic roles, this character fits with the new surge in naughty girl comedies, like Bad Teacher and Bridesmaids. She plays a newly divorced writer of teen novels who returns to her hometown intent on reclaiming her high school boyfriend — oblivious that he is married with kids.

With a script by Oscar winner Diablo Cody (Juno), the footage shows her drunken and immature behavior with old school pals and her unexpected connection with one former classmate. As the tagline states: Everyone grows old. Not everyone grows up. Also featuring Patrick Wilson (Watchmen) and comedian Patton Oswalt (The Informant). The film releases on December 9 in North America and is scheduled in the UK, France, Sweden and other European markets in February 2012.
